Like everyone else, I’ve been paying attention to the events happening in our world. God showed me something the other day. I came home and my three dogs met me at the door. The only thing that they wanted was for me to play ball with them. They love that! To them, that is when they feel me loving them most! They had no other care in the world. Why? They trusted me and wanted to spend time with me.
God showed me that we are to be like that to Him. To be excited to spend time with Him and have Him focus on our relationship. The world as we know it has changed recently. It appears that the coronavirus has taken over! It certainly has with the media. There are now orders in some states to shelter at home. In some, the National Guard has been called out. Walmart is now limiting how much of your groceries that you get. It appears the stage is set for martial law at the moment.
While we do need to respect the state of affairs, we must not lose our ultimate focus. These are distractions to pull us away from Him. What are we to do in trials like this? Exactly what the Bible tells us. Trust in the Lord. When there was a famine in the O.T., God provided for His people. When Daniel was thrown into the lions’ den, the hand of God was with Him. We must remember that God is still in control. While it may have taken us by surprise, it has not taken Him by surprise. In fact, there were multiple prophecies regarding the coronavirus back in the fall of 2019.
We must keep our focus on what Christ has asked us to do. What is that? Making disciples, including ourselves.
When we panic in these times, two things happen. First, we are no longer trusting that God is in control. Remember, based upon what you have done for Him, He shall supply all of your needs. Secondly, our focus is on the issue and we try to “fix it” in our own way. Soon, all hope is lost. That is, until we call upon Him again. Isn’t time for you to place your trust in Him again?
Father, I ask that you help my friend to completely trust you with the situation that they are facing including this current world virus. Give to them your peace and joy. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
If you haven’t already, it is time to commit your self to genuine prayer. You have time for it. Like Paul told Timothy in the N.T., Rejoice, and again, I say, Rejoice!
